Morning all,
A guy I work with suggested Eve, and I must say that I am very excited from what I have seen the past few days.
I have been reading thru the forums and found this section and I am really interested in joining the dark side.
I am trying to figure out what the best race would offer the best start off specs. I was told you could make amazing money by blowing up the semi truck ships carrying wares and I tried it, but I didnt get close before I was tore into by the police.
I have read thru some of the posts and found information on what skills to work on, but it seems i should have focused on a rocket ship instead of a gun ship?
Sorry for the uneducated questions. Ive spent two hours browsing here without success before i asked.

I went with Gallente and got a catalyst for all the guns. I started out with the #2 level guns but I dont have much striking power.
The guys I was with last night told me to kill the haulers (thank you for that by the way) and we would split the loot, but i didn't have enough fire power to take them out before i died (is this even possible to kill one before being killed)
Im guessing these guys knew this and wanted a few laughs. Guess I will need to start a new character and try again, 3rd time is the charm...lol
Oh how do I load up my picture to the forums like you guys have? Cant find that one either

The idea to kill the hauler was an attempt to reach the riches faster.
One of the guys was talking about making a billion from one ship kill doing this same technique. One person would be killed while th eother person got the wares and ran. Then meet up and split the spoils.
Im not sure what level the space was but it was called peremetar

Thank you for that Dark...makes sense why I could find nothing on here about this. As honor among thieves go, I am assuming this killing is frowned upon and was probably why I was recruited as the fall guy

I appreciate all the responses. They were informative and did not contain the condescending comments I expected.
It going to be a slow grind I can tell. I need to learn some of the passive skills to make money to buy a ship before I can successfully begin my pirate career. I am assuming that everyone was once a miner in order to afford the luxury of a cruiser ship.
My recent industrial ship attack has left me with the starter ship, and I should be able to get into the next step up ship by this weekend once I cash in on the friendly neighborhood astroids.
